In this guide, I will cover three important objects in Monopoly Go Buildings that are directly linked to the building process: Landmarks, Houses, and Hotels. You will learn about game buildings and shield protection. Let’s get started!
What are The Landmarks?
There are five unique landmark items in each Monopoly Go level board. To complete a board level, you need to build each landmark and upgrade it to advance your level. You can access board landmarks using the Build button in the bottom menu.
Upgrading a landmark will cost you money, but each upgrade will increase your Net Worth and grant you a house to place on a random property tile.
Be aware that if you’re the target of a Shutdown minigame and have no shields, another player can break your landmark, requiring you to fix it before continuing to upgrade. Fixing your landmark will not give you anything, so ensure you have max Shield before going offline.
INFO : If a building is shut down, you will lose one point of Net Worth, which is regained when the landmark is repaired.
Pro Tip : The shutdown is not the only threat in Monopoly Go. Bank Heist is also an enemy. So don’t leave much money in your account when closing the app. You can invest all the money in your current board’s landmarks. If you are short on money for landmark upgrades, use the listed ways to make cash in Monopoly Go.
Where Can I Make Money For Upgrading Landmarks?
There are multiple ways to obtain funds for building your landmarks. Here are the most effective methods to generate significant money quickly and with minimal effort:
- Quick Win: Use the Wins button on the bottom menu.
- Bank Heist: This minigame is triggered when you land on a Railroad.
- Daily Treats: Receive them every day; rewards include Dice or Money.
- Shutdown: Landing on Railroad allows you to attack another player’s Landmarks in Monopoly Go.
What are Houses and Hotels?
Houses and hotels are the primary sources of monetary expansion in Monopoly Go. You can earn income by generating increased rent on your property tiles. Obtaining these structures involves strategic building and upgrading within the game. The process of accumulating a house, and then a hotel, begins with your building or upgrading any landmark.
These houses are automatically distributed across random property tiles upon your return to the game board. When you have successfully placed five houses on a single tile, you’ll be rewarded with an automatic upgrade that transforms the houses into a single hotel.
How To Build Houses and Hotels
You obtain houses by building or upgrading landmarks. These houses are placed on random property tiles on the board. You can upgrade houses into a hotel by placing five houses on a single tile. To receive a bonus prize, place hotels on all properties of the same color set.
Building Houses
To do this, click the Build button to access the Landmarks screen. There, you will find five different options for building or upgrading, which vary for each city. After each investment, you may notice the house counter increasing at the top of the screen.
When you return to the main screen, all your houses will be randomly located on suitable tiles in Monopoly GO. You need to invest large amounts of money into Landmarks, but as a result, your house tiles will become a gold mine.
Note that players who land on a railroad tile can visit your city and damage one of your Landmarks. You can protect yourself by using shields that can be picked up on the board. Otherwise, you have to spend money to repair them, but this will not provide any rewards, including houses.
Building Hotels
To build Hotels in Monopoly GO, place five houses on one tile. When the last House is added to the tile, it will automatically turn into a Hotel. However, be aware that this will take time since all Houses are located randomly. Just keep building and upgrading Landmarks, and you will fill the entire board with your Houses and Hotels easily.

You collect more Rent on Property Tiles that contain Houses or Hotels.
How To Protect Landmarks?
You can protect landmarks from other players’ attacks using Shields. In the game, Shields protect your landmarks from Shutdown attacks and are consumed in the process.
You can replenish your Shields by playing the game frequently. In the game, Shields are found on random property tiles on the game board.
